On the sidelines of second day of EGYPS 2024 exhibition, GASTEC and Assiut Petroleum Refining Company signed a cooperation protocol to convert the fleet of vehicles affiliated to Assiut Petroleum Refining Company to run by CNG, as part of the activities of the second day of the seventh session of Egypt International Energy Conference and Exhibition (EGYPS 2024), which was held during the period from February 19-21, 2024 at International Conference and Exhibition Center in Fifth Settlement, under the patronage of President of the Republic.

The agreement was signed by Eng./ Abdelfattah Farahat, Chairman and Managing Director of GASTEC, and Chemist/ Maged Al-Kurdi, Chairman of Assiut Petroleum Refining Company, in attendance of senior management officials of GASTEC and Assiut Petroleum Refining Company.

Such cooperation aims to enhance integration and unify vision between petroleum sector companies, contributing to achieving strategy of Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to expand utilization of CNG as a clean and sustainable fuel, in order to maximize the benefit from Egypt’s natural gas wealth to make Egypt a regional center for clean and low-carbon energy trade.

Such signing comes within the framework of the efforts undertaken by GASTEC to support vehicles conversion to run by CNG and encourage individuals and companies to convert their vehicles to run by CNG because of its positive impacts on economic and environmental levels. The Company has converted more than 250.000 vehicles since foundation through the affiliated 60 conversion centers countrywide.

The Company provides several facilities to new conversion customers in case of conversion in cash or installments up to two years without interest. The Company also provides and develops unconventional applications and solutions, encouraging institutions and citizens to use of CNG as an economical and sustainable fuel. In addition to designing and implementation of the first mobile center for converting and maintaining vehicles to run by CNG, which is characterized by increased flexibility in dealing with conversion clients from agencies and institutions by going to their location instead of congestion in front of conversion centers, increasing number of conversions as well as keeping pace with the digital transformation adopted by Egyptian state in providing services to citizens, as all components of conversion kits and hand tools used in the conversion process are available for the convenience of customers.
