Eng./ Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, inaugurated integrated station (Misr Petroleum - GASTEC) to provide vehicles fueling services with liquid fuel, CNG, and electric charging in Abdel-Khaliq Tharwat Street in central Cairo, after fully developing and adding CNG fueling services.

After the inauguration, Eng./ Tarek El-Molla explained that expansion in CNG fueling stations is one of the important solutions within the Ministry’s strategy to increase and encourage the use of this type of economical and saving fuel for the citizen, pointing out that the Ministry’s strategy is provide CNG in various roads and axes to make it easier for customers. It succeeded in achieving an unprecedented expansion and spread of CNG fueling stations in various governorates and cities during the last three years, coinciding with the launch of presidential initiative to support use of CNG as a fuel.

El-Molla added that integrated fueling stations are one of the solutions adopted by the Ministry's strategy, as it provides various fuel services of all kinds, whether CNG, high-octane gasoline or electric charging to facilitate and provide automobile users various economic and modern alternatives for fuel, as well as the multiple services provided to the station, so road-goers and motorists can get benefit. He is pointing out that this type of stations has been improved according to development model adopted by Ministry’s strategy for stations according to the highest standards of service quality, security, safety and sustainability, and it has also been powered by solar energy.

Concerning progress in expansion plan of CNG fueling stations countrywide after launching the presidential initiative, it is indicated that number of stations has increased to 923 currently compared to around 203 stations in early 2021 prior to presidential initiative launching, as number of stations has doubling down by four-folds during that period. Such stations serve more than half a million vehicles working with CNG. In addition to about 130 centers providing conversion services for adopting CNG as fuel.

The Minister inspected station-provided services and listened to an explanation from Chairmans of Misr Petroleum and GASTEC, as Eng./ Mohamed Maged Chairman of Misr Petroleum stated that the station of 1920 m3 cubic meter has been fully developed. Also, such a station incorporates liquid fuel services )gasoline 92 and 95) with CNG and electric charging. He stated that the station with a total storage capacity of about 135 thousand liters, provides vehicles fueling service to a large number of vehicles through 12 fuel points; 8 points for 92 and 4 points for 95. The station also includes an integrated vehicles service center and a shopping outlet.

And Eng./ Abdel Fattah Farahat, Chairman of GASTEC, indicated that the station is one of the important stations in which CNG fueling service has been incorporated as part of Ministry’s plan for the rapid deployment of CNG fueling stations. Also, it enhances the fruitful cooperation between GASTEC and Misr Petroleum in establishing advanced and modern joint stations, amounting about 179 stations in various governorates, including about 157 stations in the last two years. He explained that the station serves about 1,100 vehicles daily through 4 CNG fueling points. The operation of such integrated station, located in Downtown area at Cairo Governorate, reflects progress in implementing the ambitious plan to spread the Company’s stations and serves vital areas witnessing an increasing demand for CNG utilization. He is pointing out that the GASTEC stations spread in 25 governorates at level Republic representing the highest geographical rate in local market for CNG fueling stations.

Signing a Cooperation Protocol between GASTEC and Misr Petroleum to Establish Integrated Fueling Stations
On the sidelines of the station’s opening, Eng./ Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, witnessed signing of a cooperation protocol between GASTEC and Misr Petroleum in field of establishing fueling stations and integrated service centers to fuel vehicles with CNG, liquid fuel, electric charging and other services for customers. As well as signing an agreement contract between GASTEC and Circle K Egypt the under-trade name of Circle K, at liquid fuel stations of Italian company ENI, which are operated by GASTEC.

The opening and signing were attended by the Geological Alaa Al-Batal, CEO of EGPC and his deputy for transportation and distribution of petroleum products, Eng./ Ayman Abdel-Badie for planning and gas delivery projects, Dr./ Magdy Galal, Executive Managing Director of Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and his deputy for planning and gas delivery projects, Eng./ Ahmed Mahmoud, and Mattia Campagnati, director of Eni in Egypt, and Eng./ Hassanein Mohamed, Head of Central Department of Minister's Office, Eng./ Mahmoud Nagy, Assistant to Minister for Transportation and Distribution of Petroleum Products, and Eng./ Sayed Hussein, Assistant Vice President of EGAS for projects of vehicles conversion to run by CNG.
