Ratification on the Egyptian International Gas Technology "GASTEC” business results for the year 2022
Eng. Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, stressed the importance of CNG activities and the added value it achieve, and the expansion of the use of CNG in vehicles as a fuel through innovative solutions and the application of many digital transformation solutions, stressing its environmental and economic importance for the citizen and the state, in terms of providing fuel environmental, civilized, low price, gives the same efficiency as other types of fuel, contributes to reducing the quantities that are imported from abroad, and provides economical fuel for the local market and citizens.
During the meeting of the Company's General Assembly to ratify the business results for the year 2022, the Minister praised the Company's innovative and digital solutions in line with the ministry's strategy in implementing digital transformation, such as the mobile center for conversion and maintenance of vehicles to run by CNG, and the provision of service Mobile station, and the experience of modeling stations, which employed the development in the uses of virtual reality to support investment in this activity, and its continuation in linking the locations of its stations deployed, through the SCADA system, which allows continuous access, control, governance and quick decision service, as well as its partnership with the Italian company Eni to provide lubricants services in the local market, which adds to the expertise and technologies that enrich the market and work to provide a variety of services to the citizen.
Eng. Abdel Fattah Farahat, GASTEC Chairman, presented the business results achieved during the year, pointing out that it had strengthened the network of CNG fueling stations by operating 36 new stations during the year in various governorates countrywide, including two integrated stations (CNG - liquid fuel) (GASTEC – Eni) in Sohag and Assiut, bringing the total of its operating stations to 318 stations spread in 25 governorates, and that it has developed and raised the operational capacity of 11 of the operating stations, and achieved the highest increase in gas sales achieved during the year, as its sales amounted to about 534 million m3 by 47% of the total market share, and it also converted about 34,000 vehicles to run by CNG through its centers during the year, and that it succeeded in converting more than 224,000 vehicles to run by CNG since activity inception till the end of 2022.
He added that GASTC has enhanced the uses of mobile stations technology to support CNG fueling services in many governorates such as the northern coast region during the seasonal summer period, in addition to supporting the provision of CNG fueling services in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh during COP27, and the provision of CNG fueling services to buses in the New Administrative Capital in the cabinet building area. In addition to its readiness to use in emergencies and maintenance of operating stations or networks. He explained the expansion it has achieved in developing CNG transport projects, which aim to feed industrial and commercial areas and facilities that are far from the national gas network and supply them with their needs of CNG.
He also reviewed GASTEC's plan to develop and raise the levels of occupational safety and health in all its operating facilities and stations, raise the level of workers' awareness and train them in the field of occupational safety, health and the environment, and presented the planned project to develop the security control system and establish a central control room in order to monitor and analyze data and interact with the most accurate facts and events in stations using pre-determined procedures that are able to predict all events. He presented the new experience of using virtual reality technology in modeling the construction of new stations. The entire project before starting implementation and making any modifications, which contributes to saving time and costs and avoiding any errors after implementation. This system also allows commercial units to be presented to investors before implementation, which enhances investment opportunities and coordination with the investor.
