Nevin Gamea, Minister of Trade and Industry and CEO of the Medium, Small and Micro Enterprise Development Agency, confirmed that the agency has provided funding of L.E. 202 million pounds to implementation the national project for converting vehicles to work with CNG, through which 38,400 vehicles were converted, in cooperation between the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources with GASTEC and CARGAS companies.
Nevin Gamea added that this project comes in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, within the framework of the state's plan in order to reduce pollution, preserve the environment, preserve job opportunities in the field of transportation (especially taxis) and increase these groups income.
She pointed out that converting vehicles to work with CNG reduces operating expenses by almost half, which contributes significantly to facing the economic effects of the Corona crisis, especially for the sectors operating in transportation and communications, and called on owners of projects operating in these sectors to convert their vehicles to reduce operating expenses, especially in the current circumstances.
Nevin Gamea confirmed that the Enterprise Development Authority provides all aspects of financial support to encourage citizens to convert their private cars or taxis to work with CNG, through the two companies, GASTEC and CARGAS, affiliated to the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, where they provide a transfer service in easy installments for all customers to reduce their burdens and benefit from this project.
For his part, Dr. Raafat Abbas, head of the central sector for non-financial services, indicated that the agency is cooperating with GASTEC and CARGAS in implementing direct campaigns at gas stations to publicize this project and encourage citizens to convert their vehicles, and to clarify ways to prevent the Corona virus and distribute a set of prevention means to the public. Car owners wishing to convert their cars to run with CNG, within the framework of contributing to the state’s efforts to prevent the Corona virus and to complete all the measures that the Project Development Authority has taken since the outbreak of the virus to familiarize all its customers with aspects of prevention from the virus, in order to preserve their personal safety as well as to ensure the continuity of their projects and not to stop as a result of the current crisis.
